Challenge
Elle Magazine wanted to drive user generated content and page views to their Web site. Focusing on Hair and Makeup, Elle asked users post videos about their tips. Furthermore, Elle wanted to be able to approve and manage the content on the Web site as well as offering contests to keep users contributing.
Solution
1/0 developed a custom PHP site that allowed users to upload videos and tag them according to the two categories of hair and makeup. 1/0 integrated with BrightCove’s API to upload and serve up the videos. Elle’s editorial staff is able to manage and select the winners in each category each week.
Success
In the first year, Videostar.Elle.com served up over 5 million video views drawing strong advertising revenue from such companies as Cover Girl. 1/0 continues to host and maintain the site.
