Newsmax and 1/0 launch an upgraded Kentico Site

The goal of the project was simply to upgrade the system from Kentico 5.5. to Kentico 9.x (which was the most current when 1/0 completed its development work) and retain the current article structure of the system.

  • Retain the current article structure for over 300,000 articles.
  • Match the current functionality of the CMS.
  • Fix lingering bugs and issues not associated with the upgrade.
  • Launch the new site with an eye toward re-developing the CMS

1/0 chose to attempt the upgrade of the site rather than try and re-write it for Newsmax.

  • 1/0 employed a sequential upgrade process that entailed upgrading to each version of the Kentico product. 1/0 upgraded from Kentico 5.5 to Kentico 6 to Kentico 7 to Kentico 8 and finally to Kentico 9. Along the way, the site had to be functional in each and every version or the upgrade would not work.
  • 1/0 worked hand-in-hand with both Newsmax’s and Kentico’s development teams to work through exceedingly complex and difficult challenges.
  • When 1/0 ran into seemingly insurmountable roadblocks, Kentico was there to troubleshoot and answer any questions 1/0 had in terms of the code.
  • 1/0 was responsible for integrating changes made at Newsmax as it upgraded the site.

1/0 Launches ASLA’s Responsive Site

1/0 re-purposed the American Society of Landscape Architects (“ASLA”) to re-develop the existing site to create a Responsive site that works well on PC, Tablet and Mobile devices.  Utilizing UIKit, 1/0 was able to work with the existing code base to introduce a grid like system for all legacy templates contained within the site’s structure.

UIKit works on the concept of a grid system to create a fully responsive, fluid and nestable grid layout. The grid system of UIkit follows the mobile-first approach and accommodates
up to 10 grid columns. It uses units with predefined classes inside each grid, which define the column width. This makes it very flexible for overall design and responsive liquid layouts.

1/0 and ASLA

1/0 continues to host and maintain the ASLA Web site spanning almost a decade.  Our company hosts and maintains the main ASLA Web site, the ASLA continuing education site (LACES.ASLA.org).

1/0 Develops and Launches PropaneCouncil.org

1/0 worked with ad agency Swanson Russell, launched a fully redesigned and responsive site – www.propanecouncil.org. The technologies to be used were specified by Propane Council to be Ektron as the CMS and Volusion as the third party eCommerce solution. The API calls for Volusion are limited so 1/0 imported all products stored in Volusion into Ektron so the product display would have maximum flexibility and not be restricted by the API calls. The Volusion API could then be used to pass the product information in to cart over to volusion for the remainder of the checkout process.

The remainder of the site’s content leverages the Ekton smartforms, Ektron API and Ektron User profiles to create a new responsive look and feel for their Web site. For these pieces 1/0 worked with Swanson Russell to formulate all business rules and address any questions that arose when integrating real world data with the designs.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS RELAUNCHES RESPONSIVE WEB SITE

In honor of Giving Tuesday, 1/0 is pleased to announce the launch of an updated Special Olympics Web site. Now optimized for donations, it integrates with Jackson River-Springboard, a digital engagement platform which helps non-profits catalyze support for their causes. This responsive site is based on the Ektron CMS platform, utilizing its multi-region, multi-language and multi-site features. The integration of real-time Summer Olympic Games results and social media enables the site to engage over 1.6 million volunteers who serve over 4.5 million people in 170 countries.

1/0 LAUNCHES LATEST PROJECT – THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF LIGHTING DESIGNERS

1/0 is pleased to announce the launch of our latest project – the International Association of Lighting Designers. This responsive web site employs Kentico CMS, integration with Avectra Membership software, and accepts payments. The newly updated iald.org continues to realize both the IALD vision “To create a better world through leadership and excellence in lighting design; to cultivate the universal acknowledgement and appreciation of the Power of Light in human life” and its mission “To serve the IALD worldwide membership by promoting the visible success of its members in practicing lighting design”.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS UNIFIED RELAY ACROSS AMERICA BEGINS!

1/0 proudly announces the kickoff of the Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America, sponsored by Bank of America. From May 26 through July 10, anyone can take part in this multi-leg run, bike, walk or roll across America to promote the Special Olympics 2015 Olympic Games. 1/0 built this site using API integration with Bank of America Torch Tracker and Twitter. The site is responsive using the Ektron CMS platform with the ability to sort multiple events by region. Visitors to the site may follow the relay on Twitter, see where and when the torch will be near them and see the complete schedule of community celebrations.

1/0 LAUNCHES NEW CERTIFIED LIGHTING DESIGNER (CLD) CERTIFICATION SITE

1/0 launches http://www.cld.global/ for Lighting Designers worldwide. A Credentialing Task Force convened by the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) determined that a pressing need existed for a globally recognized professional certification. The new site offers a seamless process for designers to apply for the Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) certification, the first evidence-based certification for lighting design in the world. The site content is managed utilizing the Kentico CMS. http://www.cld.global/ is fully optimized for mobile and uses Google Search and Analytics for all traffic reporting.

1/0 CREATES SPECIAL OLYMPICS UNIFIED RELAY ACROSS AMERICA WEB SITE FEATURED ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA

Special Olympics and Michelle Kwan announced on ABC’s Good Morning America that registration has opened for the first-ever Special Olympics Unified Relay Across America, presented by Bank of America. 1/0 created http://www.unifiedrelay.org/ to allow anyone in the country the chance to carry the Flame of Hope (lit in Athens, Greece) to Los Angeles for the Special Olympics World Games. The front-end development includes a Lightbox sign up and a Map with the Unified Relay route. Unified Relay is Responsive and accesses the Twitter API for the most recent, related tweets.

1/0 LAUNCHES PROGRAM 35 WEB SITE FOR HILL HOLIDAY

Hill Holiday, the 14th largest ad agency in the US, requested a sleek and enticing web site to attract creative interns for its upcoming summer program. 1/0 worked with HHCC’s creative and technology teams to develop a scrolling parallax website using HTML5, Canvas, and some very, advanced JavaScript. Interested and creative interns can now apply online for  Program 35, http://program35.com/. 1/0 received high praise from HHCC’s creative department for developing the site on par with its exacting standards using media queries to effect a responsive web site.

1/0 CREATES SINGLE PAGE SIGN UP SITE FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS IMPACT SUMMIT BY GENERATION UNIFIED

1/0 created a single page sign up site for the Special Olympics Social Impact Summit by Generation Unified, http://specialolympics.org/summit/. The new page provides young people with the opportunity to apply for a 5-day summit and help change intolerance, injustice and inactivity. 1/0 added social media integration using both Twitter and Instagram. The site is optimized to be displayed on mobile/tablet devices using media queries to affect a responsive web site.

1/0 EVALUATES PROPANE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH COUNCIL (PERC) WEB SITE

1/0 partnered with Swanson Russell to evaluate the Propane Education and Research Council’s website, http://www.propanecouncil.org/, and its Ektron CMS platform. PERC is a leading incubator of new propane-fueled technology and a worldwide resource in propane safety, training programs and products. 1/0 conducted a detailed analysis of the CMS Ektron Workarea, .NET code and HTML/CSS while providing solutions regarding PERC’s technical questions and issues, like recommendations for how to improve the site going forward.

1/0 DELIVERS A BRAND NEW HOMEPAGE TO THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS (ASLA)

1/0 updated the ASLA homepage with a fresh and updated design, http://asla.org/default.aspx. Extensive front-end changes were made by creating new Universal Styles in the CSS and creating a new header and footer. A JQuery slide show was added as well several other interactive features. 1/0 implemented Responsive Design of the new homepage to ensure a positive user experience for mobile devices.

1/0 EVALUATES AND UPDATES GARAGETEK SITE WITH THE LATEST VERSION OF THE EKTRON CMS

1/0 performed an extensive web site evaluation for GarageTekhttp://www.garagetek.com, the #1 rated garage organization system. 1/0 solved several front-end issues and upgraded the site to Ektron’s latest version allowing GarageTek to take advantage of the new Ektron CMS features. 1/0 looks forward to working with GarageTek in 2015 with recommendations to improve the site. Projects include Responsive Design, Social Media Integration, redeveloping the site in the C# language and highlighting “before and after” projects to improve GarageTek’s sales.

1/0 OPTIMIZES DARIEN SPORT SHOP BY IMPLEMENTING THE MARKETING SOFTWARE, HUBSPOT

1/0 digitally assessed the Darien Sport Shop web site http://www.dariensport.com/, and transformed it into a lucrative marketing automative platform for content and creation by implementing the marketing software, Hubspot. 1/0 installed email, blogging and landing page tools to enable the publishing of content enticing to customers and implemented HubSpot’s SEO tool to optimize the posts for search ranking. This family-run business (established in 1946) was able to optimize its SEO, Inbound/Outbound marketing and lead generation to close sales.

1/0 CREATES VALUABLE PRICING TOOL APPLICATION FOR ALIX PARTNERS

1/0 successfully created a valuable pricing tool application for Alix Partners, http://www.alixpartners.com/en. Setting the right prices and fully realizing those price points for financial instruments require powerful analytics, metrics and process discipline. This tool enables Alix partners to provide its clients with a powerful combination of pricing and promotion strategy formulation and tactical execution. When companies perform well in pricing and promotion, they increase revenue, enhance profitability, and achieve positive positioning in the marketplace.

1/0 LAUNCHES THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT’S GUIDE TO PORTLAND

1/0 is pleased to launch an additional city of Portland to the ASLA’s Landscape Architect’s Guide resources, http://www.asla.org/Portland/. We extended the site through the use of a responsive design and the Ektron CMS. 1/0 collaborated with ASLA’s internal team to create a delightful guide for all architectural aficionados to enjoy in the beautiful and vibrant city of Portland.

1/0 LAUNCHES NEW WEB SITE FOR AERION CORPORATION

1/0 is excited to announce the launch of aerionsupersonic.com. 1/0 has employed advanced 3D video technology for the site to introduce the world’s first supersonic jet, the Aerion AS2. The Aerion AS2 will employ SNFL (supersonic natural laminar flow) wing technology, the key enabling technology behind practical and efficient supersonic and high-subsonic flight.

We are happy to announce the launch of the National Multifamily Housing Council web site, nmhc.org. The new site seamlessly integrates aspdotnetstorefront and ISG Web with the Ektron CMS. The NMCH site provides a forum and community for members of the apartment industry to help ensure their future success.

1/0 LAUNCHES ASLANIAN MARKET RESEARCH

1/0 has successfully launched a redesign for the Aslanian Market Research Web site, http://www.aslanianmarketresearch.com/. AMR specializes in marketplace adult education. They have helped serve more than 300 colleges by conducting research studies, institutional audits, feasibility studies and program reviews for these institutions.
